My grandmother told me a story of back in the day, a door-to-door salesman (we're taking the 1950's or 1960's) came to the house and tried to sell her a garbage disposal. He told her this disposal would easily grind down anything from a turkey leg to a glass bottle. Being the pragmatic woman she was, she said "That sounds dangerous and I don't want it around children" and slammed the door in his face. Came in handy the other day because a bottle cap found its way down there and jammed the disposal. Using the hex key, I rotated it 1/8 of a turn and the bottle cap came free.
