Product Description

The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If you landed here you have most likely compared a handful of phone holders for your car and noticed something really odd. THEY ALL LOOK THEM SAME. Why you ask? because they are. The dirty little secret is all the cell phone holders come from the same 3-4 factories in Korea and China. They just mix and match the heads and bases, add a new logo and walla you have a new car phone mount. Here is the problem with that. The original base were never designed to go on any other heads and the suction cup that goes on your windshield was only meant to hold small smart phones. So why do they all do it? Because if faster and cheaper to interchange the parts than to come up with something new. Well I thought it was a good time to stop that trend. I didn’t reinvent the wheel, I went to the guy that invented the wheel. I teamed up with the original designer of the magic grip and asked him to think of the perfect phone mount and see if we can make it come to life. 8 months later and here we are. A magnetic phone mount with more magnets to cover more surface area on your cell phone to prevent it from slipping off because of potholes or sudden stops. A design that will be able to handle any size cell phone on the market. And a 100 % money back guarantee to prove it. Hit the add to cart button now and give it a try

I have a Nexus 6 which is probably the biggest cell phone you can buy. I was skeptical that a magnetic holder would be able to handle the 6 but I saw a lot of good reviews and thought I'd try it.First mounting the holder to the car. It comes with a disc of incredibly sticky stuff that should stick to anything, then you put the suction cup on the disc and pull a lever. The suction cup is made from even more incredibly gooey sticky stuff. So that looked promising. But the sticky disc didn't stick to my dash at all. My dash has a dimpled faux-leather finish and the disc just slid right off. Scratch that. But this thing can also mount on glass so I just swiveled it around and mounted low on the windshield - solved.Next up - putting the metal on my phone. There are two metal mounts that hook onto the phone. You can use either the bigger rectangular one or the smaller circular one. You peel off some tape and stick the metal to the phone then the metal locks onto the magnet.Well the Nexus has a curved back and the metal is flat so that was the first problem. I opted to mount the larger metal pad inside my case between the back of the phone and the case. That wasn't ideal because the phone case no longer really fit the curved back of the Nexus 6. I covered the scratchy metal with some clear tape to protect the phone finish and just pushed it back in the case. But that was a fail. The magnet wasn't powerful enough to lock the phone in place through the case. And of course now the metal wouldn't come off and re-stick on the outside of the case, which is also slightly curved. The sticky patch separated from the metal. So scratch that mount. Now I'm down to just the smaller round metal. I gave it a bit of a bend to accommodate the curved case and stuck it on the outside of the phone case. Because it was the smaller one and because my phone is enormous I was worried it wouldn't have enough magnetic pull to lock the phone in place. Now that the metal was slightly bent it no longer made solid contact with the mount either. Well... it does stick there. It feels a bit loose and I wouldn't trust it over a lot of big bumps or off-roading or anything. But it should be fine for normal driving.I was also worried about putting my phone on a powerful magnet. Would it cause memory issues? Screen problems? Compass issues? I downloaded a compass app and sure enough this mount totally screws up the compass. Even before the compass app test, my phone reported that it didn't like the mount. It complained that the compass needed to be realigned by rotating the phone in 3 directions. I realigned it and the phone hasn't complained since but I was a bit worried about that. And with the compass basically out of service would the GPS work reliably?Well no problem there. Google Maps worked fine. The phone knew which way I was pointed, which way I was traveling - no issues I could detect. Also no screen or memory issues although I've only used the mount for a couple of days.I don't know if the phone's internal compass will be permanently harmed mounting it this way for prolonged periods and I've got a multi-day drive looming in my near future. That possible issue is about my only major worry. Otherwise this thing does work. I doubt anything else would with the Nexus 6.All in all I would rather have a mechanical clamp and skip the goofy magnetic approach. If I do find a mechanical clip model I might go that way. But good enough for now.
